Joan P. Coyne, 73, wife of Charles M. “Chuck” Coyne, of Rockport, formerly of Plymouth and Hingham, passed away on Sunday morning, April 1, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
Born in Boston on September 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Charles Scipione Jr. and Alice (Sgotto) Scipione.
Joan grew up in Newton and attended Newton schools. She was a graduate of Simmons College with a degree in Business.
While living in Hingham, she had formerly worked as a secretary for the CIA and for Fidelity Investments. She later was co-owner and president of Hingham Real Estate Company for 25 years. After retiring, Joan and Chuck moved to Plymouth and more recently to Rockport.
In her spare time, Joan was an avid golfer and in her younger years was an accomplished tennis player. She enjoyed puzzles and was a member of St. Joachim’s Church.
Joan was a devoted wife and mother and cherished summering in Rockport and the time she spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Chuck, she is survived by her two sons, Christopher Coyne of Rockport and his daughters Clare and Kathryn, David Coyne and his wife Emily of Rockport and their children Charlie, Grace and Shannon; and her brother Richard Scipione of Hingham.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main Street, Rockport on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joachim’s Church, Rockport on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
