Gloucester — Helen Ruth (Viator) Ellis, 94, wife of the late Charles A. Ellis, of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday morning, October 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center.
Born in Gloucester on February 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary S. (Sears) Viator.
Helen graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1935. She had worked as a sample maker for Mighty-Mac in Gloucester for 46 years before retiring.
Helen's interests included photography and travel. At the age of ten, Helen got her first camera and began her life-long family pictorial chronicles. Helen's love for travel included trips to Hawaii, Germany and the Azores. Helen cherished her memories of visiting her family's homeland in the Azores with her brother, Gene. She lived in Virginia for many years with her nephew's family. Some of her favorite times were day trips with her close friends.
During Helen's lifetime, she was devoted to her family and she will be remembered and cherished for her kindness and love for others.
Helen was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church and former member of the Gloucester Fraternity Club.
She is survived by her nephews, Gerald Viator of St. Louis, Eugene J. Viator Jr. of Gloucester, David Viator of Florida; grandnieces and nephews, Gerald Viator Jr., Karen Winslow, Cheryl Bolchoz, Justin Viator, Ryan Viator, Kyle Viator, Brett Viator; great nieces and nephews, Nicole, Cruz and Taj Viator and Julie Helen Viator.
She was predeceased by her brothers Edward Viator, Eugene Viator; and nephew Stephen Viator.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral mass will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, November 5 at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
