Canaan, NH — Rowland E. Hill Sr., 91, the husband of Lydia (Hamilton) Hill, died peacefully at home with family at his side. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., to William and Olive (Spear) Hill. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara (Hill) Fulton. He is survived by his wife, Lydia; his brother, William Hill Jr.; and his seven children and their spouses, Rowland and Wendy (Wonson) Hill, Robin (Hill) and Stephen MacLeod, Cedric and Alberta (Trefry) Hill, Brian and Stephanie Hill, Audrey (Hill) and Frank Vitale, Georgia (Hill) and Gregory Wostrel, and Jeffrey and Lisa Hill; 15 cherished grandchildren; his brother-in-law, John Fulton; and sister-in-law, Meradith Hill.
A 1943 graduate of MIT, he had a lifelong career as a mechanical engineer, and derived endless pleasure from a personal hobby of designing and building wooden boats. He was also an avid hiker through the Adirondack and White Mountains. He will be best remembered for his love of God, his compassion for his fellow man, his ever-curious mind, and his great love of the outdoors. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be deeply missed.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 28, at the First Baptist Church, Lebanon, N.H.
