Joseph Allen Cameron, 84, husband of Patricia P. Cameron, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012. A resident of Brooksby Village, Peabody, he was a former Rockporter and longtime citizen of Boxford.
Joseph was born in Boston on January 30, 1928, to William Daniel and Jennie (Joyce) Cameron and raised in Quincy, Ma. Graduating from North Quincy High in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served occupation duty in Korea.
A highly educated man, Joseph attended the University of Massachusetts, Northeastern University, Columbia University, and Seton Hall Law school. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for 17 years in New Jersey, where he met the love of his life, Patricia. After completing law school he was employed as a patent attorney at Bell Labs for 25 years in both New Jersey and New England.
He loved the water, especially sailing on Barnegat Bay and Salem Sound.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, affection and his highly developed sense of fairness. Joseph grew up in a large caring family and was surrounded by his loved ones to the end.
In addition to his wife of 57 years he is survived by his son John Cameron and wife Ann Conneman, his daughter Nancy M. Cameron, as well as his brother William R. Cameron.
Joseph was predeceased by his siblings Gerard, James, Virginia,Robert, Margery, and Leo.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am in St. Mary's Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Visitation held prior in the Mackey Funeral Home, 22 Conant St., Danvers, from 8:45am to 10:45am. Burial to be private. Please see www.mackeyfuneralhome.com.
