Evelyn A. (Jacobs) Fleming, 85

Gloucester, MA — Evelyn A. (Jacobs) Fleming, 85, wife of the late Edward F. Fleming, of 66 Poplar Park, Gloucester, Mass., died on Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2013, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.

She was born in Gloucester, Mass., on December 10, 1927, daughter of the late Alvin M. and Mabel (Parsons) Jacobs.

Mrs. Fleming attended Gloucester schools and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1945.

In her earlier years, she was employed at Jordan Marsh in Boston as a hand color photographer in the photography department. After raising her family, she worked at the former First National Bank of Gloucester for 11 years before retiring.

She loved spending time at Wingaersheek Beach with her family and enjoyed cats and traveling to Newfoundland.

Mrs. Fleming is survived by 3 sons, Edward F. Fleming Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Seabrook Beach, N.H., William A. Fleming and his wife. Martha-Jo. of Rockport, Mass., Lawrence M. Fleming of Lowell, Mass., and Charleston, Vt.; 7 grandchildren, Kelly Ann LaRosa of Magnolia, Erin Elizabeth Fleming of Hampton Falls, N.H., Holly Elizabeth Fleming of Rockport, Lawrence M. Fleming Jr. and his wife, Krystal, of Gloucester, Christen Michaud and her husband, Jesse, of Gloucester, Christopher William Fleming of Nashville, Tenn., Kathleen T. Fleming of Plaistow, N.H.; 3 step-grandchildren, Gregg Kurek of Seattle, Wash., Joseph Fritz of Boston, Mandy Fritz of Houston, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Agnes McGrath; and several nieces and nephews in Torbay, Newfoundland.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Saturday morning, June 8, at 8:45 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish, at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Another deep pleasure was his days hiking in the Southwest – the Grand and Havasupai Canyons, the Four Corners area, the high desert around Flagstaff; he loved it all as well as the native people who lived here.
