Gloucester, MA — Marie F. (Johnson) Rollins, 77, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Marie was born in Dorchester, MA on March 11, 1936, the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Corey) Johnson. She was raised in Medford and graduated with honors from Medford High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a longtime Lexington resident where she raised her family before moving to Gloucester in 1992 to live closer to the ocean that she loved. For many years she managed the family business, Bo-Dell Auto Top in Burlington, MA, balancing work and family with ease.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Beth Rollins of Gloucester and Christine Chirokas and her husband, David, of Westford, MA; three grandchildren, Brianne, Matthew and Abby Chirokas; sisters, Marguerite Palumbo of Woburn, Brenda Blake and her husband, Edward of York Harbor, ME; brother, Frederick Johnson and his wife, Anne Eldean, of Gloucester and eight nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Robert Rollins.
Marie will be remembered for her loving devotion to all of her family members and many pets from hamsters to cats to dogs to horses, her fondness for the sea, her green thumb, her thoughtfulness and her amazing sense of humor.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Burial will be held privately.
