Patricia (Benson) Heim, 79

Bradenton, FL — Patricia (Benson) Heim, 79 of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Gloucester, Mass., passed away at her home on October 18, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born at Addison Gilbert Hospital on May 8, 1934, Patricia was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Landry and John C. Benson.

Patricia was a generous, hard working, life-loving, inspiration to those who knew her. Part of the Class of 1952, she lived through amazing times in America and loved to talk about current affairs and recent history. She adored her family and was a great friend to many. She loved dancing, music, and playing cards. At her Wood Park Condominium home in Florida, she helped bring the community together as one of the social directors, both performing and hiring acts that entertained many. She sure loved to laugh.

Patricia spent her early working days as a fish packer at Fabet Fish Company in Gloucester, but many of her favorite memories were waitressing and hosting at the Surf restaurant in Magnolia. She enjoyed people and made many lasting friendships. Patricia finally retired in 1996 from LePage’s factory where she was a print operator after she met her loving husband, Walter Heim.

Patricia is predeceased by her first husband, Richard L. Brennan Sr.; daughter, Julie F. Brennan; and brothers, Colby, Louis, Albert, Rusty, Chris, Peter, and Tommy Benson. She is survived by her husband, Walter Heim of 14 years; her brothers, William Benson of Manchester N.H., George Benson of Gloucester; and sisters, Shirley (Benson) Miller and Janette (Benson) Dean.

A real natural, she was the devoted mother of Richard L. Brennan and his wife, Betty, of Gloucester and son, John R. Brennan and his wife, Elizabeth, of Boxford. She was the cherished grandmother to Colby Brennan of Boxford, Jessica Brennan of Dover, N.H., Patricia Brennan of Gloucester, Nicole Winslow and her husband, Andrew, of Greenfield, N.Y., and Ryan Jacksland and his wife, Samantha, also from Greenfield, N.Y. Pat was the proud great-grandmother to Julianna Winslow, Sven and Mackenzie Jacksland of Greenfield, N.Y.

She loved Wally’s sons and daughters, Christopher Heim of Essex, Debbie Maffeo of Essex, and Michele Almeida of Peabody as her own and was always quick to show pictures of the grandkids, Gillian Maffeo, Michael, Christopher, Kevin, Miranda and her daughter, Marina Marie.

Patricia also had many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends too numerous to list.
