Gloucester, MA — Richard M. Orlando, 68, beloved husband of Joanne (Johnson) Orlando, of Gloucester, passed away on Thursday evening, August 29, 2013, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Richard was born in Gloucester on May 25, 1945, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Aiello) Orlando.
Richard was a graduate of Gloucester High School and had served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967.
After his discharge, Richard had worked at Gorton’s of Gloucester for 42 years, retiring in 2009.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his many trips to play in New Hampshire and Myrtle Beach. Richard was a lifelong member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks and the AMVETS Gloucester Post 3 and he also enjoyed his regular visits to Lucky 7’s.
Richard was very devoted to his family and will be sorely missed by his many friends.
The Orlando family would like to recognize the nursing staff at Addison Gilbert Hospital and Dr. Arsenian for the outstanding care they extended to Richard throughout his treatment.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by his children, Bob Orlando and his wife, Debbie; Tricia Williams and her husband, Scott; grandchildren, Jade Orlando, Tess Williams; his sisters and brother, Josephine Orlando and husband, Tony, Rose-Marie Smith and husband, William, Leonard Orlando and wife, Patricia; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Orlando and companion, John Tyack, Susan Orlando; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog and best friend, Raven.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and his wife, Catherine, Salvatore and his wife, Francis, Anthony and John Orlando.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Wednesday, September 4, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
