Gloucester, MA — Sadie Ann (Michon) Zager, 95, wife of the late Joseph P. “Phil” Zager Jr. of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Ipswich on January 28, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maryanna (Nosel) Michon.
Sadie had attended school in Ipswich and had worked for many years as a waitress at the former Captain’s Table in Essex and the former Surf Restaurant in Magnolia.
She had worked hard her whole life raising four children and in her spare time, was a very active member of St. Joseph’s Chapel in Magnolia. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Guild and helped in church fairs. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking, often donating her goods to sell in the fairs. She also enjoyed tending to her garden in her yard.
She is survived by her four children, Michael Zager and wife Judy of Beverly Farms, Gregory Zager and wife Kathleen of Reading, Jeffrey Zager and wife Linda of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Maria Sova and husband Michael of Gloucester; grandchildren Brian Zager, Katie Zager, Gregory Zager Jr., Erin Zager, Garrett Zager, Alexandra Zager, Jennifer O’Brien; great grandson Nicolai Vorozeyken; and her brother Edward Michon of Ipswich.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Tuesday, December 18th, at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. A visiting hour will precede the service on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be private.
