Margaret I. "Rene" Robinson, 85

Rockport, MA — Margaret Irene “Rene” (Glockling) Robinson, 85, of Rockport, MA, wife of the late, Guy C. Robinson, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2013, in the Addison Gilbert Hospital, Gloucester, MA, with her loving and devoted family at her side.

Rene was born in London, England on July 17, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Hillier) Glockling.

In her younger days, Rene was quite a wonderful entertainer and hosted many parties in her home for family and friends, along with her husband, Guy. She never forgot her English heritage and whenever an English ship would come into port, she would celebrate by inviting the crew to a soiree at their home.

Irene and Guy traveled many times back to England to visit with family and friends, as well as cruising aboard the QE II and the Queen Mary.

She loved her yard, and being an avid gardener, the flowers she nurtured and grew there would remind one of an English country garden.

Above all, her love and devotion for her family was always her first priority and she will be greatly missed by them all.

She is survived by her daughter, M. Lynda Robinson, of Rockport, three sons, David Guy Robinson of Rockport, Kenneth Robinson and his wife Patricia, of Lynn, MA, Paul Edmund Robinson of Rockport; three grandchildren, Joseph Robinson, of Lynn and Chelsea and Derek Robinson of Seattle, WA.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Shorter, Eileen Crockford and brothers, Ron, Len, Kenneth and Alan Glockling.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service followed by her burial, will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 10:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA, followed by a gathering at a local Medford restaurant. Family and friends are cordially invited.

Visiting hours will be held in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St, Rockport, MA on Friday, January 11, from 4-8 p.m.
