Priscilla L. (Brown) Metzner, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 in the Den-Mar Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Rockport. She was the wife of the late William J. Metzner, who passed away in July 2009.
Born in Gloucester on May 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Allan F. and Emma (Clark) Brown. She was a lifelong resident and had attended Gloucester public schools.
In her younger years, Priscilla had worked at various locations along the Gloucester waterfront. Later, she was employed for twenty years at Gorton’s of Gloucester.
Having grown up in a large family, she was a self-proclaimed tomboy. She enjoyed playing baseball with her siblings and was also an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carol Metzner of Florida, Alan and Brenda Metzner of North Carolina and Ronald and Diana Metzner of Gloucester; two grandsons, Eric and Mark Metzner of Florida; two sisters, Louise Downey of Rockport and Sally Brown of St. Petersburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Bruce Metzner.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, from 1 to 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
