NEW YORK (AP) — A town house dubbed New York City's skinniest house has sold for $2.1 million.

The red, 9 1/2 foot wide, 42 foot long brick building in Greenwich Village was built in 1873 on land used as an alley between homes. The town house was listed for sale last August at $2.7 million. The two bedroom, two bath home last sold in 2000 for $1.6 million.

A plaque on the narrow Bedford Street home notes poet Edna St. Vincent Millay once lived there; so did anthropologist Margaret Mead.

The newly-sold building was listed on real estate Web sites Wednesday as a rental available for $10,000 a month. An e-mail seeking comment from the listed rental agent Wednesday was not immediately returned.

Plane through: Cessna lands on Houston golf course

HOUSTON (AP) — An area near the 11th hole at a Houston golf course provided a smooth landing spot after a small plane ran out of fuel and glided on to the grass.
The Cessna 170 was expected to be moved from Hermann Park on Tuesday. The unplanned landing of the single-engine plane happened Monday night on a flight from Lafayette, La.

Maine ice shack transformed into 'Shangri-La'

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Some folks like to fish through a hole in the ice. Kevin and Tanya Ouellette enjoy that, as well. But they also enjoy the comforts of home — wood floors, TV, surround sound — in their "ice shack" on Maine's Sabbattus Pond.

PETA proposes robotic groundhog for Pa. festival

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) — An animal rights group wants organizers of Pennsylvania's Groundhog Day festival to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a robotic stand-in.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it's unfair to keep the animal in captivity and subject him to the huge crowds and bright lights that accompany tens of thousands of revelers each Feb. 2 in Punxsutawney, a tiny borough about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. PETA is suggesting the use of an animatronic model.
