Letter: Hotel foes' arguments don't hold water

To the editor:

The Fort residents complain about traffic?

Well, I said it before and will say it again: Take down the wall across the street from Cape Pond Ice.

As it is, it's an eyesore and not doing anything. However, if you take it down, trucks can turn around, instead of blocking the street.

Another thing: At St. Peter's Square, there is a sign listing more than 25 businesses. Guess what? Not even half of them exist today. Trades and salespeople come down the Fort looking for businesses that aren't even there. Take down the sign, and put up a new sign listing those that really do exist.

Next: The residents are worried about odor and smell? I hate to be a broken record, but if they took care of their product, maybe there would be no smell or odor.

And finally, parking.

No matter where you go in this city, parking has been a problem, so perhaps we need a garage.

Here's the bottom line: All the reasons cited by the residents for opposing the hotel overlay zone just don't hold water.

I'm a resident, and I don't see a problem.
