To the editor:
So one of the many myriad of complaints and problems associated with locating a hotel on the Birdseye property is that only a minimal number of full-time employees would be needed, with the majority of positions filled being that of a part-time nature.
Well, I would definitely think there would be a lot more full-time jobs needed here.
Who's going to wash all the seagull splats off the cars of the tourists and convention visitors? Heck, this hotel will need day and night shifts working to keep up with that.
Anyone who has lived in Gloucester, especially in the heat of the summer when it gets baked on, knows even one splat on your car is enough to get you very irritated. Hey, how about having a complimentary car wash exit ramp at the hotel, too? How about a voucher presented to the guests at check-in time for a car wash courtesy of Beauport Gloucester LLC at area car wash businesses just in case the exit ramp car wash didn't quite do the trick.
We definitely want the tourists and convention visitors to make return visits to Gloucester, right?
It's going to be a mess down there, and I'm banking that the seagulls will be victorious. Long Live the Fort.
