To the editor:
As he runs for the U.S. Senate, Congressman Ed Markey has the back of Massachusetts voters on every issue.
Markey supports a woman’s right to choose and is endorsed by Planned Parenthood. Markey is endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign for his long-term support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ) issues. Markey fits with our values by bravely standing up to the National Rifle Association and supporting an assault weapon ban, limits on high-capacity magazines, and background checks.
Markey has been a tireless supporter of nuclear safety at the Seabrook, N.J., plant and has emerged as the pre-eminent leader on nuclear plant safety nationally. Markey has staunchly protected Medicare and Social Security, opposing efforts to diminish these benefits for our senior citizens (like me). Markey supports Wall Street reform, and he is endorsed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
He supports innovative technology, labor, and jobs, earning Congressman Stephen Lynch’s endorsement. Markey co-wrote the American Clean Energy Act, which would reduce our dependence on foreign oil and would help create clean energy jobs. He is a national leader on climate change. Markey is endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters.
Congressman Markey is an accomplished and courageous leader who has taken on tough challenges and has consistently stood up for the people of Massachusetts. Ed Markey has earned our vote for the U.S. Senate on June 25.
