To the editor:
I’ll choose not to speculate on the true motive behind Mac Bell’s attendance at the mayor’s campaign kick-off last weekend (“Bell proves unwelcome guest at Kirk benefit,” the Times, Page 1, Wednesday, Oct. 2).
But whether he was exercising strategy, arrogance, curiosity or any of the other theories I’ve heard, the mayor’s discomfort with Bell’s presence appears to suggest some insecurity in her camp.
I would be far more confident in a leader that could stand in front of her opponent and openly address her supporters, than one who felt more comfortable behind closed doors.
