Manchester Police/Fire: Motorist, 69, faces DUI charges

Manchester Police/Fire:

MANCHESTER — Police arrested a Crooked Lane man Monday morning on charges of operating under the influence and other driving violations.

According to police, a town officer stopped 69-year-old Richard Webbe on School Street after the motorist had struck a curb. Police said a check on his license plate then revealed his license had been revoked.

After a field sobriety test, police determined that Webbe was under the influence of drugs, although no drugs were confiscated.

Webbe is being charged with operating under the influence of drugs, operating after revocation, negligently operating to endanger, violating a license restriction, and failing to stay within marked lanes.

Police addressed a group of youths who were found climbing on the roof of Manchester Memorial Elementary School on Lincoln Street Friday just before 5:30 p.m.

According to police, the children were retrieving their Frisbee. Police advised the youths of the dangers of climbing on the roof.

A blown transformer was the cause of a widespread town power outage Sunday at 8:56 a.m., police said.

According to police, the malfunction left downtown Manchester and parts of Pine Street and Woodholm Road without power for a short period of time. National Grid was notified and responded to the scene.
