To the editor:
This is a copy of a letter I have sent to Congressman John Tierney.
"Dear Congressman Tierney, I urge you to join Sen. Dianne Feinstein in objecting to the National Defense Authorization Act which gives the executive branch the authority to order the military arrest and detention, even assassination, of citizens without charge or trial if they are suspected of planning an impending terrorist attack.
"The suspension of habeas corpus is contrary to the constitutional rights that are our due and strongly suggest a dictatorial hand guiding us down a fascistic path."
"The shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida won't be prosecuted so far under the 'Stand Your Ground' law. This is operative in a number of states and allows us to shoot someone we consider threatening without facing arrest, let alone prosecution.
"This won't avert but, rather, invite extremists to attack us since we aren't afforded the usual protections.
"You are a person of such integrity and clear thinking that you're able to undo such misguided edicts. Your constituents will support you."
