To the editor:
I am outraged by the hubris of the charter arts school board.
Faced with what seems like very little community support, the original acceptance marred by a political agenda, no site for the school, a dwindling number of founders, and no school head, the charter board has hired a charter school management consultant and is seeking students for a March deadline.
Their insistence is beginning to seem delusional. The many gaffes in this process would be laughable except that the city of Gloucester and the children in Gloucester's schools will pay for the new school.
This is wrong.
As an educator and a taxpayer, I resent that the charter school board is pushing an expensive experiment for a few children on a community already dealing with serious financial cutbacks in a tough economic climate.
