Letter: Obama oversteps bounds on immigration

To the editor:

I believe Michael Cook has one small problem with his letter on immigration (the Times, Monday, June 18).

By his own words, the president's unilateral fiat is against constitutional law. President Obama has created a new law, with his prosecutorial discretion in telling the Department of Homeland Security to not prosecute a whole class of people by edict.

Only Congress can make law.

Besides making new law, the president, broke his oath of office; "to uphold the laws and the Constitution of the U.S."

What's next, Michael? Issuing an edict to Health and Human Services, giving the gay community full domestic partnership rights, as part of his health law?

I believe this president is heading for an impeachment trial with which to end his term — but I could be way off base. What do I know?
