Letter: Brown's experience needed as town clerk

To the editor:

I have found Patricia Brown to be one of the most helpful of Rockport town officials. There have been times that I needed a copy of an official document such as the soning bylaws; a telephone call to Pat was all it took for a copy to appear soon in my e-mailbox.

As a member of the town Bylaws Committee, I had many occasions to interact with Pat as changes and a new table of contents were merged into the existing bylaws. She always provided time to help.

Currently, she is the acting town clerk. She brings all of her experience to a complex job.

I cannot think of any logical reason for change; furthermore, the town clerk's position is not a place for on-the-job training.

I will vote for Pat Brown on May 8.
