Letter: A case of mistaken identity

To the editor:

I am writing in response to all the wonderful compliments Walter Chianciola wrote about me in his recent letter to the editor (Times, Wednesday, May 23).

However, I never have played the piano. I was never a pilot during World War 11. I was not in the Normandy invasion.

I did serve in the Navy as a CBM Chief Petty Officer aboard two LSTs (Landing Ship, Tanks) in the South Pacific.

Thank you for all the accolades, but you have the wrong veteran.
