Caleigh Harrison's family says thanks

Gloucester Daily Times

---- — To the editor,

We are very fortunate to live in this wonderful community, which embraced us last spring when little Caleigh was lost. Thank you ... somehow, those two simple words don’t seem to be enough to express our heartfelt gratitude to so many people.

Thank you for every kind word, caring thought, prayer said, candle lit, card sent, meal cooked, warm embrace, and for each and every hope.

Thank you to our mayor, for her steadfast support; to Gloucester, Rockport and state police, firefighters, EMTs, K-9 teams, sonar teams, divers, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the state helicopter teams— your dedication is so very appreciated.

To Alan Tate, Maureen Flatley and the volunteers at The Mission for the Missing for all that they did and do.

To each and every person who attended the vigil and Mass. It is a wonderful testament to a beautiful little girl that so many felt compelled to be there.

To the captains who graciously volunteered to light paper lanterns from the harbor (a special sign for a lost princess).

To Jim’s Bagel and Bake Shoppe, Jalapenos restaurant, Jeff’s Variety, our loving neighbors and friends who fed us well when we needed it the most.

To Fuller Pre-K, O’Maley, Beeman and Plum Cove schools for reaching out to the other devastated children in the family.

To our employers and colleagues who were so understanding.

To Lenny Taormina and his co-DECAs for their efforts to help.

To the members of The Moose for their support.

To Lenny and Dottie Linquata for their caring generosity.

To John and Julie Nicastro for the truly beautiful bench.

To members of the community who made generous donations to Hold Hands for Caleigh, which were used to raise public awareness for child safety.

To Lynne Curcuru (and her team Amy Randazza and Mindy Tarr) who helped to take our idea for a scholarship and create a special event.

This week, as we prepare for our second annual golf tournament, we thank all of the supporters of the event. Their donations provide the funds for the scholarships, as special gifts from Caleigh.

To Sen. Bruce Tarr who worked so quickly to turn our aspiration of public safety into an actual bill.

As you well know, the loss of a loved one is difficult ... all we can do is to try to heal, keep Caleigh’s memory in our hearts, and hopefully help some other children along the way.

Please know that the overwhelming kindness you have expressed during this past year to those who love Caleigh truly means more than words could possibly express.
