To the editor:
It seems as though I am always talking about flags — little flags, big flags, city flags, state flags, even communication flags.
Today, however, I am writing about a very special flag — a “huge” flag, one that was flying gracefully on a tall flagpole next to the Blynman Bridge.
One day last week, this flag somehow came down. Evidently, it ended up in the bridge house next to the canal, but someone stole it!
Now, what can a person do with a 20-foot, $200 flag? Fly it outside one’s front door? I don’t think so.
This particular flag is not only a symbol of our great country, but it represents a donation made by someone in memory of a deceased loved one.
If you know who did this, or know anything about this disgraceful act, please drop a dime. Call Brent “Rigo” Tarr, or bring it back – before the police find you.
