To the editor:
Beware of House Bill H.R. 2545 — "The American Clean Energy and Security Act."
In other words, the notorious Cap and Trade Bill. Technically, this bill is supposed to limit carbon emissions by having our government impose fines on corporations and small businesses, with a regressive tax on the amount of carbon dioxide they release.
The fact is that we breathe out carbon dioxide when we exhale. All plant and animal life emit carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide is not the leading cause of global warming. Methane gas and sulfur gas have far greater impact. And did you know that the earth has actually cooled in the past decade and that all of the so-called computer models used by global warming enthusiasts to promote "Climate Change" did not forecast this?
That said, here are some of the negative affects of H.R. Bill 2545. Projections show that the Cap and Trade bill will eliminate at least 2 million American manufacturing, construction, transportation and finance jobs by 2035. These jobs will be lost due to the reduced economic activity forced by employers because of the forced limited output caused by our government and the billions in forced additional taxation caused by so called "Carbon Credits" which in truth is a new tax.
H.R. 2545 will also depress home prices and will cost American homeowners billions due to the fact that our government will now force all homeowners with older homes to be compliant with dozens of mandated energy efficiency standards before they will be allowed to sell their house. If they do not become compliant, they will be fined with violations. This will be caused by the fact that all homeowners wishing to sell will be forced to pay for an energy efficient inspection that the homeowner must pay for because it will be a government mandate.
With Cap and Trade, the liberals will be responsible for one of the most regressive tax increases on the middle working class. Direct energy costs for a family of 4 will go up almost $1,500 a year due to H.R. 2545. This will be caused by higher gas prices and higher energy prices such as your electric bill and your natural gas or oil bill to heat your home.
These increased costs will further erode America's economic growth due to our government forcing working middle class families to pay for the science of "Global Warming."
I have one question for those who think that humans caused global warming. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, the United States was covered by a glacier a mile high. What caused the earth to heat up and melt it?
