To the editor:
Enough is enough with elected officials who continually try and get every dime that people have.
It's absurd for the state to charge the communities that live and pay taxes by the ocean.
The fact that it will cause another layer of employees to oversee the reporting that we as citizens will have to do is a waste of money.
I said years ago that Gloucester residents have the right to the beaches and that fees should not be added on to them as it is their right to enjoy.
Most legislators who live out west around Springfield and Westfield will vote "yes" as it really doesn't affect them, but every legislator that votes to do this now, when the country and Massachusetts are hurting for jobs and paying high taxes and water and sewer rates, should be voted out of office.
They are supposed to look out for their communities and not rubber-stamp their vote to increase revenue on those who look for family fun.
Anyone who thinks this fee will stay at that level is wrong. It will increase, as will the restrictions. Tell your legislators to get in touch with their community and vote no to this fee.
