Letter: Animal control is out of control

To the editor:

I am writing in response to a story (the Times, Thursday, June 19) reporting that police were informed of two dogs being left stranded at Shaw's on Railroad Avenue at 9:58 p.m.

Police left a message with animal control. Again, a caring person called in on Wednesday morning at 7:15, as nothing had been done to help these helpless dogs.

I call that situation an absolute case of cruelty to animals, and the city of Gloucester should be ashamed of this animal control officer who did not fulfill his duties.

One wonders how many other animals has the animal control officer ignored?
