To the editor:
Tonight’s Town Meeting promises to be interesting — and meaningful.
Articles have been offered by citizen groups and the Planning Board, aimed at preserving Rockport as we know it — and protecting our neighborhood and home values from intrusive development. These articles prohibit little, but provide an opportunity to review projects for constructive improvements.
Some Finance Committee members apparently see only the bottom line — McMansions pay more taxes than family homes. But what happens to the value of your house if a monster is erected next door?
Whatever we adopt will be reviewed and improved in the future. But we cannot let the theoretical ideal block the needed good. We must act now.
Your vote — or non-vote — will determine Rockport’s future. Help us.
