Letter: Ground zero mosque raises many questions

To the editor:

With Labor Day upon us, and unemployment through the roof, as someone that was at ground zero two days after the attack and saw first hand the horror of the site, perhaps someone could answer a question for me.

With billions in stimulus dollars, why is it our president publicly approves and endorses the building of a mosque that will be practically on the grave of a building that was hit in that horrendous attack, instead of approving the use of those stimulus dollars for private-sector contracts to rebuild the towers?

It would seem to me that the thousands of private-sector jobs, not to mention, the thousands of jobs that would be created by the available space in the new buildings, would instill confidence in the American people, as well as the world's small businesses.

To see American tax dollars — stimulus money — being used to rebuild and create thousands of new jobs for the unemployed, to stimulate our economy, by restoring what our enemy tried to destroy would be far better use of this hallowed site.

Why give the enemy the satisfaction of a hole in the ground?

After the towers are restored, then allow the mosque to move forward.

Why are we giving reward and comfort to our enemy, while our citizens struggle to find employment, in the city at the center of the world?

Answers please?
