To the editor:
In his letter, Bob Crandall (the Times, Wednesday Aug. 15) presented data about how much less effective our health care system is than those of other developed countries.
He also pointed out that we spend more on health care than any other developed country.
How much more is shocking! For example, we spend more than twice as much per capita as does the United Kingdom, which covers all of its citizens and produces better results.
A system as cost-effective as that in the UK would save us over $1 trillion per year, more than our entire national deficit.
Are we crazy, or what?
