Letter: Letter misrepresented councilor's actions

To the editor:

I am writing to clear up what I believe are inaccuracies in a recent letter to the editor (the Times, Monday, Oct, 21).

For the record, there have been several meetings, site visits and yes, phone calls, regarding the Maplewood Avenue flooding.

Despite what Mrs. Harvey stated in her letter, I’ve spent many hours holding meetings, site visits with the Department of Public Works and at the city offices at Pond Road doing research.

We have yet to find any violations by the developer because the special permit has not expired. No violation equals no reason for me to request their presence in front of City Council to discuss the property.

This was communicated to Mrs. Harvey, but because she didn’t agree with my information she wrote an inaccurate letter regarding my behavior.

I will continue to do the research — and work toward finding a solution for her business and the residents.

MELISSA COX

Gloucester Ward 2 city councilor
