Letter: Leader Lundberg deserves vote for council

To the editor:

I strongly support the candidacy of Paul Lundberg’s as a Gloucester councilor at large.

Paul was born and raised in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School (1969) —as did his Dad, Dr. Robert Lundberg, a well-respected and talented surgeon, and his grandfather before him.

Paul earned bachelor and MBA degrees from Northwestern in Chicago, he was later employed by C&NW Railway in Chicago, leading to 25 years in management as a VP in Labor Relations and Chief Operating Officer. And since leaving Chicago, Paul has served as General manager for the MBTA’s commuter rail service and six years as COO of Rail America.

He returned to Massachusetts and Gloucester, the city he grew up in and loves, with his wife, Christine, and both are active in the community in volunteer and non-profit organizations..

Paul has been passionate and concerned about Gloucester’s past, present and future as evident in his public service that includes six years on the Gloucester Planning Board — including two as chairman — and a member of the board of the Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Library and other nonprofits.

With his background in leadership, management, negotiation skills and deep concern for the city’s future I believe Paul has the knowledge, skills, and attitude that will serve our city proud as a caring member of the Gloucester City Council.

Please join me in a vote for Paul Lundberg for councilor-at-large on Nov 5.
