Arrests

Two Gloucester men were arrested after police said they witnessed a drug deal on Elm Street yesterday evening.

Joseph L. Curcuru, 34, of 18 Hancock St. was charged with two counts of illegal possession of cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute in a school zone.

Michael A. Feeney, 46, of 20 Mason St., was charged with illegal possession of cocaine and illegal possession of marijuana.

Police observed Curcuru, who is known to police as a drug user, walking on Prospect Street. Curcuru then met Feeney at the top of Elm Street. Police observed the two walk down Elm Street, exchange something, and walk away in different directions. Police then pulled up alongside Feeney and asked him where Curcuru had gone. Feeney said he did not know. When Feeney was frisked, police found marijuana and a Starburst wrapper in his pockets.

Police then caught up with Curcuru, who told them that he had sold Feeney two pills of Soboxone because he was sick. When police searched Curcuru they found one pill of Soboxone, cocaine and a smoking pipe. Police then searched Feeney again; they found the two pills hidden in his Starburst wrapper. Both men were taken into custody.

Incidents

A Liberty Street woman notified police that she discovered a fraudulent transaction on her debit card. The woman told police that a charge from a cell phone store in Wakefield was charged to her account. The woman cancelled the card.

Police responded to Perkins Street at 11:30 Tuesday night for reports of a suspicious person pounding on a door and window. The resident told police the window was damaged and that her house had been entered two weeks previous. Police searched the area and found nobody.

Police responded to Prospect Street at 6:30 a.m. yesterday morning for reports of a car being vandalized. When police arrived, they found a rock had been thrown the windshield of the car, which was parked on the street The car's owner told police he believed his ex-girlfriend did it.

A motorist traveling north Route 128 called police yesterday morning to report debris on the highway near the Concord Street exit. The witness said he believed a National Lumber Truck lost some of its load. Police called National Lumber and it confirmed a delivery to the area at that time. The state Highway Department cleaned up the debris.

A Sea Fox Lane woman called police to report that her ex-boyfriend opened up a cell phone account with her Social Security number. The woman told police she never received a bill for the phone, which had been activated four years ago, until after the two had broken up. She was taking up the problem with the phone company.
