To the editor:

Now I am not one of those conspiracy theorists, but is it me or where have all the war protesters gone at Grant Circle?

I can't remember the last time was that I saw them down there on a regular basis.

I know I saw them all the time protesting George Bush's war in Iraq, but since Barack Obama got elected, their attendance level sure has dropped. I certainly understand protesting war and promoting peace but I'll be darned if I haven't seen one person down there holding at least one sign protesting Barack Obama's war in Iraq or his drone attacks in Pakistan.

It is starting to look to me like their hypocrisy is showing. By from what I saw on signs they've held high in the past, they should be down there right now protesting Barack Obama's war in Afghanistan and his responsibility for more than 251 American soldiers being killed so far in 2009.

Why are they not down there calling him a murderer of our young men and women? Why are they not protesting his escalation of the war in Afghanistan by adding 20,000 more troops so far and possibly another 40,000?

I say these things because it looks to me like they were using the battle deaths of our brave fighting men and women while George Bush was in office as a political tool, but now that a liberal president is in office, it would not be politically correct to protest.

I have no problem with people protesting war and promoting peace, but please do it all the time and not just when it's politically correct.

By the way, why in God's name is Barack Obama taking so long ordering another 40,000 troops to Afghanistan as per requested by his commanding generals on the ground?

During his whole election campaign he was hawkish toward Afghanistan and said that's where the fight is. Now, all of a sudden, he's indecisive on what to do there? Is he waiting for what the next poll numbers to tell him which way to go on the battlefield?

I also find it hypocritical that the Democrats were protesting George Bush putting the nation in debt, and that the 5-percent unemployment level was an abomination, but now those voices have been silenced due to political correctness.

I guess it's easier to look the other way when the person you voted in can make $800 billion in taxpayers' money disappear, and still can't get those three million new jobs to magically appear.

All I'm saying is: have the courage to protest the people you voted into office.
