Focus: Toys, with a small-town touch

People shouldn't have to leave town to buy a quality toy, said Tracy Trumble, owner of Seaside Toy Factory on Central Street in Manchester.

"Our goal is to bring quality toys to a small town so they don't have to leave home," said Mike Armas, Trumble's husband and the shop's co-owner.

Armas and Trumble opened Seaside last month. Trumble said she chose Manchester as the location because of the charm of the small town.

"I used to visit Manchester while attending school in Boston and I loved it," she said.

The small town shop carries multiple toy lines — including toys made by Schylling, a company that manufactures toys inspired by designs from the 1950s.

To stay current with the demand of a small town customer base, Seaside constantly rotates its stock.

"We want to have new toys for people who come in regularly," Trumble said.

Seaside has toys that are suitable for children of all ages.

"We are trying to appeal to everyone," Armas said.

Seaside also offers children the chance to make their own toys through what Trumble calls an "animal stuffing machine."

"Kids appreciate them (toys) more because they get to put their heart and soul into the toys," Armas said.

Seaside also offers a variety of stuffing party packages where kids can gather and make their own stuffed animals. Prices range from $8 to $17 per child — and the package includes a stuffed animal, a birth certificate for the animal, a collectible gift box and an ice cream sundae provided by Captain Dusty's of Manchester.

The shop also offers free gift wrapping to all customers and free same-day delivery to Manchester residents.

Business hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday (it is closed on Wednesdays), and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
