Ciolino named vice president, investment officer

Don Fournier, president and chief executive officer of Beverly National Bank in Beverly, recently announced the appointment of Richard Ciolino as vice president and investment officer.

"We are pleased to welcome Rick to Beverly National. He brings his extensive experience as a portfolio manager and investment analyst to the bank's Wealth Management and Investment Services Group," Fournier said in a statement.

Prior to joining Beverly National, Ciolino was the trust investment officer at Cape Ann Savings Bank. He was previously an investment analyst and portfolio manager with an investment advisory firm.

Ciolino is a graduate of Framingham State College, where he majored in economics, and Suffolk University, where he received his master's in business administration.

A resident of Gloucester, he is vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Cape Ann YMCA.

Parisi receives Small Business Award

Linn Parisi of Over the Bridge Tours of Cape Ann was honored with a Small Business Award for her work with the tourism industry by North of Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Julie McConchie and NBCVB Board Chairman Joe Bevilacqua at the organization's annual dinner.

The Small Business Award honors the small-business owner who recognizes the importance of the tourism industry and is committed to providing outstanding customer service.

According to a statement, Parisi inherently "gets it," offering her time and expertise in group tours to serving the visitors of Cape Ann and all of Essex County. She has been an active participant in the NBCVB Tourism Conference committee, the Sail into Summer Cruise committee and the Reunion Network familiarization tour. In addition, Parisi is a strong proponent for the industry and a dynamic recruiter of NBCVB members.

Hartz Street Nursery School earns accreditation

Hartz Street Nursery School in Gloucester recently earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) — the nation's leading organization of early childhood professionals.

"We're proud to have earned the mark of quality from NAEYC, and to be recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards," said Pattie Goulart, director of the school, in a statement. "NAEYC accreditation lets families in our community know that children in our program are getting the best care and early learning experiences possible national effort to invest in high-quality early childhood education, and to help give all children a better start."

The NAEYC accreditation system has set voluntary professional standards for programs for young children since 1985. As of September 2006, the association's revised program standards and criteria have introduced a new level of quality, accountability, and service for parents and children in child care programs. The new standards reflect the latest research and best practices in early childhood education and development. NAEYC is committed to utilizing the newest studies and analysis on positive child outcomes to ensure young children continue receiving the highest-quality care and education possible.
