Horses are her business

One of the most tried and trusted rules of success is to make a profession out of a passion. So after years of running a large horse farm on Cape Ann, Kelly Fennessey turned entrepreneur and has started her own horse business.

"Because horses are what I love and what I know, I wanted to keep working with them," said Fennessey, who's called her new business The Horse Sitter, and now spends her days going from barn to barn taking care of horses while their owners are on vacation, at work, or just plain in need of a pair of extra, experienced hands. Her services, which include overseeing veterinarian and farrier appointments, extend to carrying out vet's instructions, even down to the daily care and cleaning of injuries.

Fennessey can be hired as needed, by the day, week, or longer, and is available 24 hours a day to travel anywhere on Cape Ann. She may be contacted by e-mailing kellyfen@comcast.net or calling 978-879-7274.

Addison Gilbert staff make honor roll

Addison Gilbert Hospital announced that the physician members of the Northeast Physician Hospital Organization (NEPHO), the organization that serves as a liaison between the hospitals' physicians and insurance providers, were recognized by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC). HPHC recently named the physicians to the 2009 Physician Group Honor Roll, which recognizes outstanding commitment to high-quality care.

HPHC's Honor Roll recognition is given yearly to physician groups and healthcare systems that achieve the top performance level on a series of clinical quality measures. For physicians treating adults, these measures range from breast cancer screening, to various areas of diabetes management. For pediatric physicians, the measures range from the appropriate use of asthma medications, to the percent of children seen for "Well Child" visits. Physicians of Addison Gilbert achieved all of the measures, and were therefore named to the Honor Roll with distinction. This year marks the seventh time that Addison Gilbert physicians have been recognized by HPHC with this honor.
