Stephen and Judy Porter of Danvers and Cynthia Eagan of Gloucester are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Elizabeth Porter to Andrew James Whitaker, son of Annie and Steve Whitaker of Newport News, Va.

Ashley graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 2002. She received a B.S. in Biology in 2005 from the University of Vermont and received a M.S. in Marine Biology in 2008 from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. She is employed at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. as a Central Effort Administrator.

Andrew graduated from Rockport High School, Class of 2000. He received an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts from North Shore Community College in 2004 and will receive a B.S. in Environmental Studies from Nova Southeastern University in 2009. He is employed at the School Board of Broward County as a Painter-Journeyman.

A Nov. 14, 2009 wedding is planned.
