UNTITLED

They're blasting downward from the sky,

Sharp, white snowflakes — whizzing by! —

And on the ground — some stick to stay,

While whirling winds blow more away!

Around and sideways, upwards, too ...

Confetti-flakes — they're all askew! —

Crosswinds chasing flying fluffs —

As they burst up like powder puffs!

Shards of pellets in awesome course,

In gales aloft ... a fearsome force!

In and out through black-barked trees,,

Magic snowflakes race with ease.

Winds fly off to other places,

Scooting fast with mirthful paces;

The air is quiet here and there,

With waltzing snowflakes everywhere!

The heavens left what they blew down,

And beauty lies around my town.

Ebon branches, lean and stout,

Watch hanging snowflakes laze about.

When Rockport's garbed in rain or snow,

My windowpanes record the show,

Of sea-sky blue or gray-green light;

Today it dressed in black and white.
