Poets' Corner: Missing Mom on Mother's Day White Feathers

Among your things a Mother's Day card

a genuine white feather adorns the front

I gave it to you a few years before.

In the corner is your chair, thoughts of

you enter my mind, a slight scent of

roses fills the air, it is time.

I gather the outfit you will wear, and

fold each piece with tender care, before

I leave I touch your chair.

My hand trembles as I ring the bell.

I glance down and through the blur

of my tears a pure white feather lies

at my feet, a sign from you, the

feather I'll keep.

I had a dream you came to me one

night and kissed my cheek ever so

lightly. The next day as I walked the beach

a small white feather grazed my cheek

as it floated down it landed at my feet.

It's been eight years since your passing,

like whispers on the wind you send

me white feathers now and again a

sign of love everlasting.

I glance at my reflection in the

mirror, you take me by surprise

it's like you are looking out of my eyes.

I resemble you they say. Missing you

on Mother's Day.
