Rockport goings on

Halloween party

Today, Rockport Public Library holds its annual children's Halloween party. Parents are invited to bring children in costume for the parade at 1:30 p.m., rain or shine. Weather permitting, the parade will go around the block. In case of rain, parade will go through the library stacks. Folksinger and storyteller Tim Van Egmond joins the party at 2 p.m.

Meeting at Legion Hall

On Monday, the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 98 of Rockport will meet at 7 p.m., at Legion Hall, Beach Street. Members are requested to bring gifts for the annual Christmas gift shop to be held at The Chelsea Soldiers Home later in November. The 2009 winners of the Girls State program will be guests for the evening. For more information, contact Barbara Paradis at 978-546-2887.

Music events

Wednesday is the Orchestra Big Gig at 7 p.m., in the auditorium, featuring the string students from grade four through high school. Thursday, Nov. 5, is the Band Big Gig at 7 p.m.,in the gym featuring the band students from grade 4 through high school. Tuesday, Nov 10, is Jammin' at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium featuring the middle school and high school jazz bands.

Weight loss workshop

On Wednesday, Silhouette Solutions will sponsor a free weight loss seminar at 6 p.m. at Rockport Inn & Suites, formerly Sandy Bay Motor Inn, 183 Main Street, Rockport.

Haircuts to aid firefighter

On Monday, Nov. 2 Ambiance Hair Design, 13 Railroad Ave., will hold a cut-a-thon fundraiser to benefit Kevin Sousa and his fight against leukemia from 3 to 8 p.m. Cost is $35 for a hair cut and blow dry. Cash or checks will be accepted. Credit cards can not be accepted for this event. For details, call 978-546-3653.

Garden Club gathering

On Monday, The Rockport Garden Club will hold its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. in the community house, followed by a tea with hostesses April Hiscock and Mary Francis. Jan Richenberg of Pettingil Farm will speak of her experience leading creative workshops in floral decorating and present holiday ideas.

Class of 2012 fundraiser

Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Rockport High School Class of 2012 holds a fundraising spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Fish Shack in Rockport.

Rotary Club

Manchester-Essex Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at 7:15 a.m. for breakfast, fellowship. Call Lex Towle at 978-869-2424.
