Max Schenk, public health sanitarian for the City of Gloucester, stands by the water gate that always stays open to keep salt water flowing through to Mill Pond. Duck clams and sea worms were recently discovered in the sea flats seen behind Schenk ,indicating that the pond is approaching its natural ecology.
