Robert Akers, 50, of 39 South St., Rockport, had charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, illegal possession of a class C substance and illegal possession of a class E substance continued without a finding for one year. Akers also had a charge of failing to stop for police dismissed and was ordered to pay $600 in court costs.

Akers was arrested March 1 after being pulled over by Gloucester police for driving south erratically on Route 128 with a flat tire. According to police, Akers had several pills that were in an unmarked prescription bottle. Akers was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital by rescue squad and told rescue workers he was under the influence of Ambien, Klonopin and Ativan. All are muscle relaxants, used to treat anxiety and insomnia.
