May 05, 2008 06:00 am Someone put nails and screws in a truck's tires, and cut the safety strap on the trailer attached to it, while the truck was parked behind the police station over the weekend. The truck's owner reported the vandalism at 10:10 a.m. Saturday. r Stephen M. Elston, 49, of 6 Haven Ave., Rockport, was arrested at 5:13 p.m. Friday and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with an open container of alcohol. Patrolmen Jim Romeos and Mark Larivee made the arrest while investigating a report of an erratic operator driving into the town from Ipswich. r Two large sinkholes were reported on Main Street on Saturday.
