NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a fisherman who died after falling into New Bedford Harbor in January was "significantly intoxicated" and his condition contributed to his death.
The Bristol district attorney's office said that the death of 36-six-year-old Robert Glover of New Castle, Maine, was accidental drowning.
Glover slipped while trying to board the fishing vessel Arcturus early on Jan. 22 and fell into the freezing waters.
The vessel's captain, 48-year-old Kenneth Thuestad of Mattapoisett, jumped in to save Glover, but was incapacitated by the cold water under. His death was also ruled an accidental drowning.
Glover's body was found shortly afterward. Thuestad was recovered the following day.
