Gloucester: Police/Fire

Arrests

r A routine traffic stop on Poplar Street led to the arrest of a Gloucester man on Monday afternoon.

Police arrested Aaron T. Pinegar, 18, of 64 Dennison St., on charges of possession of a class D substance and speeding at 5:40 p.m.

Vandalism

r A Mount Vernon Street resident reported his yard was vandalized Monday at 8:55 p.m.

r A vehicle parked on Main Street yesterday was vandalized. Police are investigating.

Larceny

r A Gloucester Marine Railways foreman reported at 5:39 p.m. Monday that his V-8 Chevrolet 350 engine block had been stolen.

The man estimated the value of the engine at around $100. He told police he believed the engine was stolen by another employee as many carry keys to the building and police found no evidence of forced entry. The block was most likely stolen sometime between Friday and Monday.

r A man was spotted trying to remove trash stickers from rubbish bags on Warner Street yesterday at 8:47 a.m.

r Yesterday, a Colburn Street woman reported a large, decorative copper "punch" bowl had been stolen from her front porch. The woman told police the bowl weighed about 100 pounds and that she believed it was stolen on Sunday.

Incidents

r Two bicycles were reported stolen from the Shaw's parking lot on Railroad Avenue on Monday afternoon. Police investigated and the bikes were soon found.

Fire report

r Patrolman Scott Duffany responded to an outside fire at 148 Washington St. at 2:45 p.m. yesterday. Duffany was traveling up Washington Street from Grant Circle when he received the call. He was there within seconds and able to extinguish the small fire before it spread beyond the bark mulch in front of the home.

r Rescuers transported women from the Action shelter and Winthrop Avenue to Addison Gilbert Hospital on Monday night and Tuesday morning, respectively.
