Sawyer Medals were first awarded in the eighth grade to the following top students. Alumni Scholarship Fund Board wishes to recognize the excellent academic achievements and the civic and social contributions that one student made while he was at Gloucester High School. In recognition of what he achieved and how much he contributed to the school and the community, we have created a unique scholarship. This student graciously removed himself for consideration of local scholarships once he learned that he was the recipient of a large scholarship from Stanford and an outside source. The selflessness of Marcus's words and actions speak volumes and the board proudly presents Marcus Busby with a $50 scholarship, which perhaps might buy him his first Stanford sweatshirt. $50 — Marcus Dash Busby. The award fund is administered by the Gloucester Rotary Club for the National Frozen Food Association who gave $1,000 in l986 to start the fund in memory of Clarence Birdseye, the founder of the first commercial frozen fish processing operation. $100 — Jessica Ann Olson. Gorton's/NSCC Scholars Program Gorton's is providing a Gorton's/North Shore Community College Scholars Fund to be administered through the North Shore Community College Foundation by North Shore Community College. The student so selected will be known as the Gorton Scholar. This scholarship is awarded to a hardworking Gloucester High School student who will make North Shore Community College his/her primary academic choice and who enrolls as a full time student. $1,200 each — Lori Christine Martin, Hannah Cole White. Arthur and Harriett Wright Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to help a student in financial need to get a better economic foundation toward an education.
