'Bermuda' added to ships now due today for Sail fest

By Times Staff

An additional Tall Shop, The Spirit of Bermuda, is expected to arrive in Gloucester Harbor this afternoon as part of the first Sail Gloucester Festival, Sail Gloucester Director Ally O'Connor said this morning.

The Spirit of Bermuda is competing in a Tall Ships Challenge race and needed a place to berth for the night, O'Connor said, adding that the ship is expected to tie up sometime between 1 and 5 p.m. at Brown's Boat Yard in East Gloucester. It is uncertain whether the ship will be accessible for the public.

Both O'Connor and the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center said they are still expecting the schooners American Eagle and Lewis R. French this afternoon. The barque Picton Castle arrived yesterday, is docked at Cruiseport Gloucester, and is open for tours today and tomorrow before departing Tuesday for Sail Boston.
