July 11, 2008 09:15 pm A 39-year-old Gloucester man pleaded guilty yesterday in Gloucester District Court to assault and battery and two counts of violating a restraining order. He was sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence in jail with credit for 65 days time served and two years probation. John Munroe of 50 Taylor St., Gloucester, was arrested Feb. 22 after police responded to the Wingaersheek Motel on Concord Street after receiving a report of a man and woman arguing. According to the police report, the woman said Munroe put his hands around her neck, causing a set of red marks on her skin. r A 37-year-old Gloucester man pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license yesterday and was found responsible for speeding. Jude Lefavour of 11 Hillside Road, Apt. 301 was ordered to pay $600 in fines and an additional $100 in court costs. Charges against Lefavour for a license plate violation, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving an unregistered vehicle were dismissed. Lefavour was arrested April 3 at 9:57 a.m. on Route 128 after police said he was driving 86 mph in a 55 mph zone, did not have a license with him and had the wrong license plates on the car. According to the police report, Lefavour's license had been suspended. r A 21-year-old Gloucester man charged with five counts of writing false prescriptions for painkillers had his case continued without finding for two years and six months, and was ordered to pay $1,090 in court costs. Vincent Mannone, of 26 Burnham St., Gloucester, was arrested Dec. 5 after police received a report from a pharmacist at Eaton Apothecary on Prospect Street who believed Mannone was trying to obtain 60 Percocet and 60 ibuprofen pills without a prescription from a doctor. After an investigation, police said Mannone had written 27 false prescriptions on stationary stolen from a local doctor that allowed him to obtain 1,460 pharmaceutical pills including Roxicet, Endocet, ibuprofen and hydrocodone. r A 21-year-old Gloucester man facing charges from three separate incidents pleaded guilty yesterday to resisting arrest and was found responsible for a marked lane violation and driving without a license. Pietro Cusenza of 97 Washington St., Gloucester, still faces trial on charges of assault and battery; he was placed on pretrial probation for that charge and a charge for negligent driving until July 10, 2009. Charges against Cusenza for unlawful possession of fireworks, speeding and a motor vehicle equipment violation were dismissed. Cusenza was fined $135 for marked lane and license violations. Rockport police arrested Cusenza on March 3, 2007, at 1:10 a.m. on Parker Street when an officer said he saw Cusenza try to run a Honda driven by an ex-girlfriend off the road with his Cadillac. The fireworks charges were brought against Cusenza after police pulled him over for speeding on Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. on Cleveland Street. Fireworks came tumbling out of the glove compartment when he reached for his registration, according to the police report. On Feb. 5, Cusenza was arrested at 11:08 p.m. after a woman, heard screaming by officers on Western Avenue, said Cusenza had chased her across the street, broken her car keys, grabbed her by the hair and struck her. r A 72-year-old Gloucester man facing charges disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, trespassing, and disturbing the peace had his case dismissed yesterday. James Garcia, of 8 Oak St., was arrested June 24 at 5:38 p.m. after an MBTA train conductor reported Garcia standing on the railroad tracks preventing the locomotive from advancing into the Gloucester train station. Garcia was ordered to ay $200 in court costs. r A 21-year-old Gloucester man charged with assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon had his case dismissed yesterday. Francesco Giovinco of 11 Fenley Road, Gloucester, was arrested at 9:40 a.m. March 2 after police responded to a report of a fight and said Giovinco had tried to attack someone with a knife.
