Gloucester Police/Fire

Arrests

A Saugus man was accused to hitting a bartender and throwing chairs around inside the Old Timers' Bar on Rogers Street late Thursday night.

Joshua N. Orndorff, 26, of 116 Walnut St., Saugus, was arrested shortly after midnight and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The bartender told police that Orndorff was agitated and acting "very strange," and, when he was asked to leave, "went berserk." The police report states that Orndorff elbowed the bartender, then starting grabbing chairs and tossing them around the bar.

The bartender complained of a head injury. He was checked out by firefighters, but ended up not being transported to the hospital.

A complaint about a loud party at a house on Elwell Street led police to arrest a Gloucester man on drug possession charges.

Shane M. Wilson, 20, of 38 Mount Vernon St., Apt. 2, was charged with possession of a class D controlled drug, marijuana, and possession of a class D drug with the intent to distribute.

Police arrested Wilson while investigating the loud party report shortly before 1 a.m. yesterday. From the doorway of the home, officers were able to spot a bong pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana. They also noticed a man, identified later as Wilson, acting strange and avoiding eye contact with the officers.

When police asked him what he was hiding, Wilson handed over two bags of marijuana, according to the police report. Officers believed the drug was packaged as though Wilson was planning to sell it.

Theft

A brand-new computer worth $1,500, along with $50 in cash from a wallet, were stolen from a woman's home at 729 Western Ave. The break-in was reported at 12:41 p.m. yesterday.
